SOLIDWORKS MBD or Model Based Definition allows users to create technical prints without utilizing traditional paper space layouts. This approach makes detailing easier to create and view in a 3D format that is easy to use in digital manufacturing workflows. Enhancements in 2021 include support for datum targets and adding fully defined target locations using dimensions. Flat patterns for sheet metal parts including bend tables can be exported to 3D PDF file formats for easy reference in the shop.
